-------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for downloading Pan-Oh!-Rama! This manual will show what the different parameters are and how they work. It will also give some ideas on how Pan-Oh!-Rama can be used in your sequencer program.

First of all, Pan-Oh!-Rama is not just a simple autopanner. It's an LFO driven Auto-Panner/Tremolo/Dual Filter that runs synced to your host application. It can also be MIDI controlled which can be used for atmospheric pads or interesting rhytmic patterns. Pan-Oh!-Rama comes in two falvours, Mono and Stereo. The Stereo version uses stereo filters while the Mono version sums the inputs and uses a mono filter to save on resources. Now let's look at the various parts of Pan-Oh!-Rama.

-------------------------------------------------------------

MODULATION:

This is where you adjust how much modulation should be used on the 4 parameters. Maximum modulation is 100 and minimum is 0 meaning the parameter gets no modulation signal.

MODULATION ROUTING:

The Modulation Routing is the heart of Pan-Oh!-Rama. Here you control which LFO's are used to modulate the different parameters. The possible routings are:
LFO1 / LFO2 / LFO3 / LFO4 / LFO5 / LFO6 / LFO 1-2 / LFO 3-4 / LFO 5-6 / LFO 1-2-3 / LFO 4-5-6 / LFO 1-2-3-4 / LFO 3-4-5-6 / All LFO's
This gives you alot of options and means any LFO can be used for any of the 4 parameters. However the LFO's can also modulate eachother through FM modulation.

LFO STAGES :

The 6 LFO stages is what generates the modulation signals. The basic settings are Waveform, Time, FM, Modulation Depth and MIDI Trig.
Waveform: All in all there are 18 different waveforms to choose from. They range from standard sinewaves and sawwaves to less common shark, interpolated random and ripsaw waveforms. The waveforms are set by clicking the box and dragging the mouse up and down like a slider. In the Off mode the LFO uses 0% cpu saving resources.
Time:
Time is based on note values where the shortest note is a 64th triplet and the longest note is one bar.
FM: This is only found on stage 2, 3, 5 and 6 and uses the previous LFO for FM modulation. This means that LFO1 can FM modulate LFO2 which in turn modulates LFO3 for some really wild modulation signals.
Mod: Modulation Depth controls how strong the modulation signal from the LFO should be. This parameter can also be set to negative values meaning modulation will be inverted.
MIDI: The top left MIDI setting enables MIDI Trig. When active the LFO will restart on Note On messages. Meaning you can use Pan-Oh!-Rama on a synth playing a pad sound where each note struck will restart the LFO's keeping the modulation in sync with the music.

FILTER:

Pan-Oh!-Rama uses a dual filterbank which allows for crossmixing. The shape setting adjusts the filtertype being used. Here you will find 2-pole Lowpass, 4-Pole Lowpass, 2-pole Highpass, 4-Pole Highpass, BandPass and BandReject filters. In the Off mode the filter is bypassed saving cpu. The Mix parameter mixes between the two filterbanks, 0 means only Filter 1 is being used while 100 means only Filter 2 is used.

SETUP:

The Setup section lets you adjust some basic settings in Pan-Oh!-Rama. These are:
Smooth: Modulation smoothing rounds of sharp edges allowing you to use sharper waveforms without clicks and pops.
Tempo:
Allows you to choose between using Host tempo or a manually set BPM tempo.
BPM:
A manual tempo setting that's used when Tempo is set to BPM.
Mix:
Mixes between the dry signal and the wet effect signal.

TIPS & TRICKS!

MIDI GATE MODE:

Here is how you MIDI control Pan-Oh!-Rama in a few simple steps.
1. First load Pan-Oh!-Rama on an Audio track or VSTInstrument of choice.
2. Then create a new MIDI track which uses Pan-Oh!-Rama as MIDI output.
3. Now either copy a series of MIDI notes from an existing track or create some new ones.
(The note value used will not be important, Pan-Oh!-Rama will ignore the value and velocity and only use the Note On as a trigger.)
4. In the Pan-Oh!-Rama interface click the MIDI Gate button on the LFO's that you want to control.
5. All done! The LFO's with MIDI Gate activated will be restarted on Note On messages.

By experimenting with this feature you can come up with some very interesting results. Try activating MIDI Gate on only one of the LFO's. Also try using it on drums where you only copy the bassdrum notes and use to retrig Pan-Oh!-Rama for interesting effects.

CLICKS & POPS
Audible clicks and pops from restarting LFO's or using sharp waveforms can easily be avoided by adjusting the Smooth parameter in the Setup section. A setting of 25 will smooth out the small edges while the higher setting of 50 will even smooth out harsh pulsewaves. By setting the Smooth parameter to very high values of 75 and beyond the modulation signal will be very fluid and soft which can be interesting and useful at times.
